Campionato Italiano Drifting – Amerigo Monteverde rules in Modena
Autodromo di Modena – May 8, 2016
The Italian Drift Championship, Campionato Italiano Drifting, tool start last weekend in Modena. A large audience gathered at the emilian recatrack thanks to the organization of the event along with a tuning gathering and the italian drag racing series. The competition was tight due to a demanding and technical track. The transition from clip 1 to clip 2 gave some head-ache to almost every driver and the requested line to link the two turns was particularly demanding and difficult. The judges decided not to judge the line between the two turns.
Congratulations to Francesco Ciconte who won among the Street Open drivers. His percurrence between turn 1 and turn 2 was one of the best of whole weekend, not only among Street drivers. Paternesi and Lugli took the lower places of the Street Open podium. The Street category experienced a huge increase of partecipants counting has much as 20 drivers, instead of 7 or 8 of last year’s edition.
Amerigo Monteverde really stormed the Racing classification after pushing the two french drivers – Jerome Vassia on Nissan Silvia and Gary Gallopin on BMW E30, to the error. The audience was astonished by Gary Gallopin along with the other drivers for the huge amount angle he was able to put in every corner. Unfortunately the french yougster made his only mistake during the grand final against Amerigo Monteverde. Jerome Vassia was good third after beating Werter Stella, who gave the impression to be experiencing some technical difficulties at moments.
The 2015 challenge winner Adolfo Oliverio, was short of luck, and loosed the battle against Moreno Poli. Great error for young champion Cristiano Monteverde, who was too aggressive on the first initiation earning a zero which was impossible to recover. I’m sure that Cristiano will be able to enjoy his revenge during the upcoming event at Castelletto di Branduzzo on June 11 e 12. Great news for the Racing classifications with almost half of the roster composed by new names.
